Platt Church privacy and cookie policy

This policy is effective from 25th May 2018, when the Data Protection Act 1998 ceased to have effect and was automatically replaced by the new General Data Protection Regulation.

This privacy policy tells you how we deal with your personal data and privacy when you use or supply information on the Platt Church web site.

This privacy policy, and any other documents referred to, sets out the privacy obligations that we have in relation the personal data we may collect from you as a user of our sites (“you”) and personal data you may supply to us.

For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act), the data controller is The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Rusholme, Holy Trinity (“Platt Church”). We are located at Holy Trinity Platt, Platt Lane, Manchester, M14 5NF. We are registered with the Information Commissioner, registration number ZA251584. Our nominated representative for the purpose of the Act is the Revd Dr Paul Mathole.

Information we collect from you

We will collect and process the following data about you in the following ways:

Information you give us. This is information about you that you give us by registering for an account or filling in forms on our site www.plattchurch.org (our site) or by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. It includes information you provide when you register to use our site, participate in discussion boards or other social media functions on our site, surveys campaigns and when you report a problem with our site. Information we receive from other sources. This is information we receive about you if you use any of the other websites we operate or the other services we provide. In this case we will have informed you when we collected that data if we intend to share those data internally and combine it with data collected on this site. We will also have told you for what purpose we will share and combine your data.

Uses made of the information

We use information held about you in the following ways:

to keep you informed about services, events and campaigns being run by Platt Church;
to ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer.

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers or transferred to third-party servers located within the European Economic Area (“EEA”). By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy and in compliance with all relevant UK data protection legislation.

Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a statutory fee to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
