Scargill House - Retreat and Working Party

Scargill House is a Christian charity run holiday and retreat centre, situated in the beautiful Wharfedale Valley, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. For a number of years, a group from Platt has gone to Scargill for four days in September.

Along with the Scargill community and other guests we join services in the beautiful chapel throughout the week, and have our own themed Bible teaching and fellowship in the evenings.

The trip is a great way to take a break from work or studies. Enjoy - fellowship, forestry, new friendships, fresh air, beautiful scenery, outdoor activities, Bible teaching, masses of home cooked food with two breakfasts!, scenic walks and so much more . . . . . .

The group helps out the Scargill community by working outdoors in the forest and on the estate each morning. Activities have previously included; planting new trees, clearing old trees, gardening, maintaining woodland paths, painting and helping to construct a children's play area. There are activities for all abilities.

The afternoons are filled with other varied activities such as scenic country walks, visits to local tourist attractions, playing sports or just relaxing in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

The Retreat and Working Party over for this year but should return in September 2007.
