Peter Capon - Reader

Born and brought up in Kimbolton, in rural Cambridgeshire, Peter Capon came to Manchester and to Holy Trinity Platt in 1966. He lectured in Computer Science at the University of Manchester until retiring in 2004.

Peter was Churchwarden at Platt 1978-1988 and then trained as a Reader. His Reader ministry keeps him busy and he is privileged to be invited to preach as various churches, such as St Clement Higher Openshaw, as well as Platt.
Peter is heavily involved in the Church of England nationally and in the Diocese of Manchester. He is a member of the Manchester Diocesan Board of Finance and the Bishop's Council. Since 1995 he has been an elected representative of the Manchester Diocese on the General Synod.

Peter is married to Hilary and they have three grown-up children. He enjoys classical music, especially 20th century organ music, and hill walking. He is joint leader of the Platt walking group, the Compass group.
