What is a House Group?

Quite simply, it's a place to belong! They are small groups of people who attend Platt Church, who meet together regularly in someone's home. Here, we can support and encourage each other, as we grow as Christians, and seek to apply our faith in our own life situations. It's the place where we can really get to know each other, develop strong friendships, and give and receive help when things get tough.

Who belongs to these House Groups?

Each group consists of up to 14 people who are committed to meeting together regularly. Two of these people will be the House Group Leaders who guide and facilitate the group. The groups are changed around every three years, although as people arrive in, and leave Manchester, most groups will experience quite a bit of change over the three years. Groups consist of a diverse group of people from different backgrounds and occupations, reflecting the composition of the congregation at Platt.

What do House Groups do?

They study the Bible, worship, pray and have fun together. Meetings for Bible study, prayer and sharing generally take place every two weeks. The groups also meet on other occasions most months for a wide range of social activities chosen by the group. Possibilities include; sharing a meal together, attending a concert, playing sports or helping other members for example in moving house or up keeping a garden.

What are Clusters?

Clusters are groups of about 6 House Groups who are linked together, and meet once every two months. Clusters are an important part of the 'prayer engine' of the church, and shared cluster activities provide the opportunity to get to know a rather larger circle of people. Clusters may decide to put on an event like a seminar, day of prayer, or a special service for the whole church. Clusters may also arrange activities which serve and outreach to the local community or host parties and social occasions.

Our cluster leaders are:

Rob and Isabel Turley
Stuart and Sue Turley

Paul and Jane Roper
John and Sue Cooley

How do I get involved?

We want everyone to feel part of Platt and have a place where they are known and belong. We want you to have a place to express your God-given gifts, and contribute to the lives of your brothers and sisters in Christ, and be supported in your everyday life.

So - join a House Group! Most House Groups meet on Thursday evenings at 7:45 p.m., but there are a couple who meet on Wednesdays and during the day time if it is difficult to attend on Thursday evenings. Please contact the Church office or fill in a Welcome Card in the pew and hand it in to a member of staff, and we will put you in touch with a House Group leader.
