Holy Trinity Platt is piloting a course called "Growing Leaders" based upon the CPAS Arrow Leadership Programme. The course is aimed at members of the congregation who lead in a variety of roles across many areas of church life, as well as potential new leaders. The course runs over 10 months and participants are committed to 1 evening session a month, two weekends away and some personal study between sessions.
The aim of the course is to:
Be led more by Jesus - knowing him and understanding his will.
To lead more like Jesus - enabling his people to be a reconciling community.
To lead more to Jesus - serving his redemptive purposes in our generation.
Over the course, a pattern of development is evolved. Firstly focussing on the individual's relationship with God, recognising we are chosen by Christ and discerning God's call. Secondly developing a Christ-like character and cultivating the competencies of leadership. Thirdly, capturing Christ's vision for our leadership roles and fourthly growing leaders in the community.
The course is multi-layered in its approach to growing leaders. The key elements are:
Teaching - Through evening and weekend sessions.
Mentor - Each participant has a Christian mentor for the course.
Projects - Each participant is asked to complete a small number of projects
in between the sessions.
Journaling and private study - Each participant is encouraged to journal reflective
thoughts and experiences throughout the course.
This 10 month course has been run twice at Holy Trinity and is expected to be repeated in 2007. Announcements will be made as details are confirmed.
