Please watch this space.

Film club was established in 2005 for the screening and discussion of art-house cinema in a relaxed and intimate setting. More than just fine-tuning our artistic sensibilities, film club is also about building friendships. A low-key event open to Christians and non-Christians alike, film club offers participants a chance to unwind from the weekly monotonies, engage in more reflective/critical activity, and socialise with other participants. Regular members are actively encouraged to recommend films (subject to licence provisions) and chair screenings.

We meet on a monthly basis, usually on the third Friday, in the Garden Room at Platt Church. The evening usually starts at 7:30 p.m. with tea, coffee and refreshments, and an opportunity to get to know others. By 7:50 p.m. and with the help of a data projector, the film is normally in full swing. At the end of the film, viewers are given space to chat and mingle before gathering back for group discussion. We aim to finish by 10:00 p.m. subject to the length of the feature.

We regularly pull in around 15 to 20 participants per screening, many of whom have now plucked up the courage to chair discussions and offer vital input into the event.

For more details of the forthcoming films see advertisements in the Sunday service sheets, or speak to Rena and Matt Jackson.
