Whether you are a follower of Jesus Christ, or simply searching to find out more, I hope you will find this website helpful, and that it will give you a taste of who we are, what we stand for, what we do, and how you can belong.
Who are we?
Holy Trinity Platt is a church a couple of miles south of Manchester city
centre, next to Rusholme's curry mile. Click
here for directions.
At our Sunday services we welcome people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. We have many visitors who are exploring the Christian faith for themselves, as well as many established disciples of Jesus Christ who are keen to grow in their faith and encourage one another.
On a typical Sunday, we welcome over 500 adults and many children and young people.
What do we stand for?
We are an evangelical Anglican church, basing our teaching on the authority
of the Bible. We believe that through the Bible we can discover the character
of God, come to faith in Jesus Christ and see the pattern by which he means
us to live. Our aim is to apply this to the world today and to allow the power
of God's Spirit to carry out his purpose in our lives.
What do we do?
Details of our three Sunday
services are here, but being a Christian is a 24/7 commitment,
so we put on a range of other activities to help people follow Christ through
the week.
Some activities serve the local community: a coffee bar for parents and carers
of pre-school children; a cheap 'pop-in' lunch for local people at home during
the day; an afternoon 'Oasis' for older people wanting fellowship and friendship.
Some activities are social, giving us time to get to know one another as a
community - we have a 20s
and 30s group, film
club, compass
group walks, a
discussion group, book
club and more.
Three times a year we run a Christianity
Explored course, which is an opportunity for anyone to find
out about Jesus' life, death, resurrection and mission for themselves, in
an informal atmosphere. Many people have found that an excellent way to ask
questions as they seek to understand what Christians believe.
How can I belong?
Platt is a large church, and it is easy to feel lost in the crowd, not seeing
the same two people from one week to the next. Of course, you're welcome to
come along and stay on the fringes if you're considering becoming a Christian.
But for those who are already Christians, we encourage people to join a house-group
or some other small group within the church. We also encourage people to get
involved by serving in some way. Please also introduce yourself to one of
the staff team
soon. We look forward to meeting you!
